THE ANIMATION COLLABORATIVE

The Animation Collaborative is a fairly new animation school in Emeryville, CA, which I've had the pleasure of attending over the course of the last two semesters. Over my 6+ years studying animation in college, I feel I've experienced the spectrum in animation education. The Animation Collaborative, a.k.a. AnimC, is easily one of the top experiences I've had. The school is located across the street from Pixar and is taught by some of the best of the best. My fellow classmates from AnimC are also easily just as inspiring as the instructors. It has the spirit of CalArt's Character Animation department, but in workshop form and lighter on the wallet. AnimC offers amazing Storyboarding, Character Design, and Animation classes, ranging in skill level, with more in the works for the semesters to come (Colorscripting, Lighting, Visual Development, Acting, Production Pipeline, and more)!

The real beauty of the school is that if you're interested in taking a class that isn't currently offered at AnimC, as long as you find 8 people who are interested and can commit to taking the class, they go find you a teacher and MAKE the class!

So, if you are looking into sharpening your artistic skills, and especially if you're focused on the field of animation, I highly recommend looking into the Animation Collaborative. You'll be glad you did!
